Fundamentalsim book by Bert B. Beach.
Political Carton of the Scopes "Monkey" Trial as it was called at the time.
Fundamentalism was when modernism was rising. People were stating to believe in evolution, composed by Charles Darwin. The idea was against the bible. The Christian’s were outrages by this idea. Then it came about that some wanted to teach fundamentalism in schools. The policy hid faith, morals, and even historical record. Therefore, it was illegal to teach in schools. They just wanted everything back at the basics, of believing of God, Christianity, etc. A man named John Scopes was someone who believed in intellectual freedom. With his strong belief of intellectual freedom he taught evolution in schools. He was arrested in Dayton, Tennessee. He was tried for breaking the law, he was convicted, and charged. His lawyer Clarence Darrow still rejoiced because he made a fool of the head of the prosecution team (William Jennings Bryan), and the Christian’s of Dayton. Scopes was charged 100 dollars.
